Barnbougle Castle
A multi-trade external conservation programme combining masonry, slate roofing, architectural leadwork, window restoration and timber preservation at an occupied coastal castle.
The challenge
This occupied coastal castle on the Dalmeny Estate required a broad external-conservation programme, with specialist access and careful protection of the building, residents and estate operations.
Restorex delivery
Working for Rosebery Estates through Simpson & Brown Architects, Restorex erected specialist elevation and chimney access before undertaking stone replacement, lime repointing and descaling, window repair and redecoration, timber preservation, slate-roof overhaul and renewal of architectural leadwork.
Outcome
The works were completed on programme and within budget, bringing the roof, masonry, leadwork and windows together in one conservation-led repair of a highly distinctive historic property.
