Case study · George Street, Edinburgh

The Roxburghe Hotel

A coordinated external-repair programme covering stonework, chimneys, slate, lead, joinery and rainwater goods at an operational Category A-listed hotel.

Project overview

The challenge

This landmark Category A-listed hotel required substantial roof and external-fabric repairs while remaining open, with the programme also shaped around the Edinburgh Festival.

Restorex delivery

For the Roxburghe Hotel, AECOM and Thomas Johnstone, Restorex delivered extensive scaffold access, stone replacement, chimney rebuilding, joinery repairs, cast-iron rainwater and soil goods, slate-roof overhaul, architectural leadwork and lightning-protection coordination.

Outcome

The programme was completed on time and within budget, improving the envelope of the George Street and Charlotte Square property while hotel operations continued.
